About Sandy
Sandy joins Remedy with a breadth of interdisciplinary training and clinical experience that informs her work in veterinary rehabilitation. A Registered Veterinary Technician and Veterinary Technician Specialist in Physical Rehabilitation, she brings decades of experience to Remedy’s rehabilitation team. Her work draws on extensive experience in movement science, patient recovery, and functional quality of life.
Sandy’s educational background is uniquely interdisciplinary, with formal training in fine arts and dance, a master’s degree in education with an emphasis in exercise science, and an associate degree in veterinary technology. She began her career in human sports medicine before transitioning to veterinary medicine, becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician in California and entering clinical practice in 2001.
Early in her veterinary career, Sandy developed a focused interest in physical rehabilitation at a time when the field was still emerging within veterinary medicine. In 2004, few hospitals offered dedicated rehabilitation services, and she has since completed extensive advanced training while remaining closely involved in the field’s growth and evolution, both clinically and academically. That commitment naturally extended into education, and she’s now a longtime educator in veterinary technology at Foothill College in Los Altos, where her contributions to veterinary technician education have been recognized with multiple teaching awards.
Sandy is actively involved in professional leadership and credentialing within the field of veterinary rehabilitation. She currently serves as President of the Academy of Physical Rehabilitation Veterinary Technicians, Chair of the APRVT Examination Committee, and Liaison to the Committee on Veterinary Technician Specialties.
Her credentials include certification as a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Physical Rehabilitation, a distinction held by only two professionals in California and fewer than 20 nationwide. She’s also a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Assistant through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute.
